Stella, an immature carrion crow, came to us in July 2017 after being found grounded in a garden. At admission we found an extensively inflamed ankle joint and old fracture with clump foot deformity as well as a nutritional deficiency, which has resulted in a poor plumage development. Stella underwent surgery and had to go through many weeks of daily wound care and antibiotic treatment. However, her patience and our persistence paid off and together we managed to restore full functionality of the affected foot. Her plumage issues have also resolved, after she went through her main annual moult.
